The City of CambridgeThe city is a unique, with a strong mix of cultural and social diversity, intellectual vitality and technological innovation and the centre administrative of the county of Cambridgeshire. Cambridge combines its medieval appearance with the modernity and technology and is well-known for the University of Cambridge that was founded in the 13th century by students who were escaping from the hostile townsmen of Oxford and chose the quiet town of Cambridge to study. The University of Cambridge has been the home of some of the world's greatest intellects, scientists, philosophers and mathematicians like Sir Isaac Newton, Stephen Hawking. Apart of the University and the diversity of schools there are also a number of medieval churches and buildings with Gothic architecture, and several excellent museums like Duxford War Museum, Wimpole Hall, art galleries like Kettle's Yard's, gardens and parks along the riverside, main of then are within easy walking distance.
